if he "needs more power than 35 watts", he probably won't be happy with 300B amps (which is what I use). Maybe a Citation II or Marantz 8B, which I also use, would fit the bill? However, to me it still seems easier and more practical to seek out a non-colored, warm-sounding SS than to hassle with tubes to achieve a non-tubey sound. Just my half cent (or sense). John
