In Reply to: Early Mullard ECC83=12AX7 yellow label ? posted by lovetube on July 18, 2005 at 07:40:17:
Hello ,
Ignore the label , it's whats inside the glass that counts :) There are two flavours of Blackburn shortplate ECC83 : first has copper grid posts and 'I61' code , second has nickel grid posts and 'I63' code . The I61 type was made from 1960-1965 (I think) and there was a slight overlap in production to the I63 from what I can tell . Most I61 I have seen had the yellow inking but best to be safe and identify by the etch codes . FYI 10M were just selected plain-Jane shortplate Blackburn ECC83 with gold plated pins , the GEC B759 was also a selected shortplate Mullard . Both command silly pricescheers
