Any break in on 6U8A tubes?

Got of pair of NOS 6U8A tubes for my Scott 222C integrated. They are more detailed out of the box but also lack a certain richness of tone, like a black and white picture of a color painting. I dont quite know how to describe it. 60s TungSol 6U8A pair in place of HH Scott and Sylvania 6GH8 pair.
I've played them about 10 hours. I'm curious. Is there such thing as break in that will change the percieved nature of these tubes? Could this be a symptom of 6U8A in place of 6GH8?
I dont really have $ to try again now but I'm interested getting the increased detail with the tastier tone of the old pair.
