Tubes Asylum Questions about tubes and gear that glows. FAQ |
|
Well, remember a while back when I was searching for a stop to that ringing problem that plagues this preamp with the 12au7 tubes? http://www.audioasylum.com/scripts/t.pl?f=tubes&m=163030Someone suggested Herbie's Tube Dampers could help. So I go a pair. The first thing I did was roll back in my old tubes (RFT's) that were the worst offenders. They still rang like a bell. So I put back in my Telefunken Smooth Plates. They had yet to ring so I thought I'd go ahead and use the dampers anyway. Well last night the right side started ringing. It had been a month since I rolled them in.
All is well now though. I installed my Artisan's and they really sound great.......for now.
Anyway, I just wanted to give you guys the update. Herbie's Tube Dampers is not the fix I was looking for on the CJ-11. Did it help at all? Maybe. It certainly didn't hurt.
