Hi Twisty,
First rule is to turn your amp off before the sources and on after the source components.If you have 2 thousand hours on 6550/KT88 output tubes, you are doing very well these days. (I once new of someone getting over 9,000 hours out of a quad of EL34s in a Jolida 202A. 13 months without ever turning the amp off).
I would not suspect the power supply as you are only getting it from only one channel. I would look first at a capacitor in that channel as it sounds like a "discharge" but only after swapping each channels tubes side to side. If the problem moves with the tubes....... well you get the idea.Keep us posted.
