Over the winter I bought a Fisher 400 and bought a matched quad of EH 7868's from Triode Electronics. After doing all of the typical updates in the bias and power supply & recapping the unit I put in the new 7868's. One of the tubes had an intermittent arcing issue. After reading some of Jim McShane's posts regarding the similar EH 7591's, I decided to change the grid resistors to 160k and changed the coupling caps to 0.1uF. The arcing disappeared and the unit sounds great now.The warning on the pins is a good one- once I put the EH 7868's in they stretched out the pins so much that I could no longer put in the stock Fisher tubes that came with the unit until all of the sockets were retensioned. Since I didn't replace the sockets, the extra tightness of the EH 7868's was welcome....but you really have to snug them in since they "bite down" on the sockets during that last eighth of an inch of insertion.
One last comment on the EH tubes...they have kind of a nice silvery finish to them....so they look great. Very happy with these now.
