Yes -- I would fix it if it needed fixing.The informed suggestion was to change the grid's resistor value from 330k (mine are verified 328k, ~0.3%, such quality is rare, and I am loath to change them... yet) to 150k-200k max -- ie. not to "verify the aged components are within design specification", but to alter(improve?) some.
If all parts are within proven design tollerance (verified), and the tube goes red, then it is most likely a marginal tube for that application.
The ultimate test for a tube's suitability is its reliable performance "in circuit" over time; (tube testing is a precusory standard, at best, for actual performance as we all know).
A classic 500c it shall remain, hopefully with a NOS quartet some day.
