Thanks for both the information and reassurance. I originally felt that the life of the tubes would be shorten, but also had worried that a capacitor or such could be affected by the excess heat.

After switching the amp back on; no hums or smells were found, but I'll still take a closer look inside. I'm sure everything is fine, but I sure didn't like finding the amp's vents covered while it was still on. I don't think I'll be making that mistake again!
