Desktop or free standing, which ones are best ?

Only recently, I discovered a pair of vintage "computer speakers", the Klipsch Promedia GMX "bullet design" speakers designed for desktop use...

They really do sound amazing (for their tiny size) when paired with a dedicated stereo amplifier and a quality subwoofer crossed over at 150 hz (speaker level connections). The stock subwoofer/amplifier is, basically, junk.

Now, at least in some ways, these might be the best sounding Klipsch speakers I've ever heard...
