The Bass Augmentation Module (BAM) affects both the lower bass on the midrange. You can run the BAM from your AC outlet or switch to battery operation. There is also now an "upgrade" from GR Research that improves the crossover and eliminates the BAM from the signal path. Rich Brkich of Signature Sound provides technical support for Merlin, which because defunct when the owner passed away in 2015. You can connect the BAM directly between your source and amp (as I do since I use a Bel Canto DAC that can connect to all of my digital devices as well as one analogue) or you can run it in a tape loop configuration if one is available to you.
