During the 1992-93 school year, my roommate was named Will, and we lived at the very end of the apartment complex. Right off the bat, he provided a board, which formed a "bridge" between the two end tables. This was our makeshift TV stand.
Also, my friend Tish, who lived in a triple room dorm, was sick. So, she spent the weekend at my apartment, which had much more space/room than her dorm room.
Later, Tish had an art project. Her male classmate used his family connections, to borrow a cage full of white doves. Tish and her male classmate were supposed to get naked, jump up, and flap like doves. Roommate #1 released the doves. Roommate #2, Will, and I had cameras. We tried to time it, so that the flapping doves obscured the views of the naked Tish and her classmate.
It was surprisingly easy, to shoo the doves back into the cage. Tish and her classmate explained that the point of this non-sexual art project was to be liberated, to be "free like the birds."
As the school year progressed, more of my friends (none of whom was male) would come over. A lot of these were pit stops between classes. But quite a few ended up being overnighters. So, we'd throw the pillows and blankets into the living room, and have those wonderful deep-into-the-morning talks.
One night, Kim, Pauline, and Quyen were over. Will was just.....silent. He remarked, "I talk with Ron, John, and Tron all the time. I want to hear what the girls have to say."
Yup, Will was there, when I made audio changes, including the different cables I was able to bring in.
So when Will was about to get married in the early-2000s, he asked me to be in his wedding party. He and his bride didn't want another kitchen appliance. So they asked me about audio. They initially had (typical for the Bay Area) a tiny living room. So they wanted a speaker, which would be (a) the mains for that room, and (b) part of a secondary system, should they move to a larger place.
So, I hit up my audiophile circle/network/web, and we came up with a special Totem Arro in a "white ash" finish. Because of the Arro's skinny size, and this "white ash" color, my future wife named it "the toothpick." Will and his wife still have and enjoy this Arro, which, now that I think about it, is over 20 years-old. Not here with the Totem Forest Signature, but in other posts, I've occasionally cited the Arro.
