Yamaha speakers - up or downgrade?

I own and love my Polk RTA 8TL speakers, but have an opportunity to pick up a pair of Yamaha NS-777. I'll be driving them with a Denon DRA697 2-channel receiver.
Information about these Yamaha speakers is all over the place (good & bad).
Will they sound as good as the Polks for vinyl music? Are they better for AV applications?- I don't do AV.

PS: please don't suggest other speakers to buy, as that is not my question.
