Why don't we see more these directivity plots?



I was never a fan of 70s era JBL three way bookshelf speakers and aside from their colorations, they exhibited a peculiar image. Since the midrange was crossed a good octave too high, the top end of its range was pinched in terms of image width only to be contrasted to a wide dispersion tweeter sitting in the middle of its sweet spot.

While the plot shown is not one of them, it illustrates the kind of weirdness I hear with them reproducing instruments that span the upper drivers.
