Sorry I'm not going to be telling you what you wanted to hear, or what is popular to say. That doesn't mean I'm wrong, it just means you will immediately want to reject my post. There will be cognitive dissonance!
There's no doubt REL has effective ads and they look wonderful too.
But if your goal is producing a relatively flat bass frequency response at your seat, one or two small driver REL sub(s) located in a room corner(s) is NOT a solution in most rooms.
For the same money, or perhaps less, one or two Parts Express 15" Titanic (one hour kit) sub(s) plus an inexpensive digital parametric equalizer will produce much smoother bass (also louder, deeper, and with lower harmonic distortion) at your listening seat.
Two subs would be best because left-right subs prevent an annoying side-wall-to-side-wall standing wave that makes some bass frequencies very weak half way between the side walls (where many two-channel listeners sit!)
When placed in a corner of a rectangular room, ANY subwoofer will fully excite all standing waves, causing the least flat bass frequency response possible in that room.
The bass may not sound as bad as it measures if the resulting bass peaks are evenly distributed (not likely).
However due to the fully excited bass resonances, a corner subwoofer will also produce the LOUDEST possible (uneven) bass in a rectangular room!
That is important for small diameter driver subs ... like many RELS.
Corner subwoofers also do not tend to integrate well with main speakers located far from those corners.
