Re: Mini monitors in a big room ?

I have these

temporarily in our living room. You have to drive such small speakers quite hard for somewhat higher listening levels so they better produce little distortion. Since these are designed for listening distances of 1 m, 1.5 m, imaging is not what I'm used to get from my main monitors. Also at higher listening levels with more complex music material such as full scale classical orchestra they have some problems.

So it depends, you need speakers with low distortion, and probably have to add a subwoofer. If imaging is not your main concern I would say that minis are ok.
