I find there IS a difference that if you MUST have extra speakers in the room (guitar speakers for example), then try facing the guitar speakers towards the wall (obviously when the guitarist isn't playing, although it may help his/her playing, hehehe). I don't know the physics behind this (sympathetic resonance?), but it sounds better when the drivers of the "offending" aren't facing the listener...
Just IMHO...
