Hi,
I wanted to get your thoughts on 2 options I am considering. I currently have a mfg'd pair of speakers (B&W N802) but I have interest in eventually building a pair of speakers myself to replace these using best available off the shelf drivers. But because this is a rather lofty, long-range plan, I don't want to screw myself in sound quality before I get there.I am a firm believer in room correction so I really want to go down one of these 2 paths.
I can change my system to the followign for about the same money;
1). DEQX with Parasound JC-1 for bass, A21 for mid/high (eventually ad something else for tweeter)
Pros - more "conventional" technology
unlimited power (400W+250W+top)
Cons - more complicated2). TACT RCS2.2XP with 2 S2150X digital amps (eventually ad a third)
Pros - system synergy
Cons - less power for bass eventually (only 150W)There are many other differences but I don't know if they are pro or con;
- analog amps versus fully digital amps
- a 3 way xover capability (DEQX) vs a 4 way xover capability with TACT
- they probably have different crossover filter technology (FIR vs IRR) but I really don't know the practical difference
any informed thoughts or advice would be very appreciated.I will post this in another forum also because I dont' know where it belongs (digital, speaker, amps).
