Re: Zu Druid placement misunderstanding

On placement:
if the speakers are positioned too close together they 'squawk'. They need width and a surprising amount of it. My listening/living room is, for the UK considered medium sized being 7 x 5 metres. I have the Druids positioned along the long wall firing across the width of the room. They are 13 feet apart. Ideally they need a bigger room I would say.

On Sound:
I consider myself lucky to be free of the Hi-Fi obsessing about soundstage, holographic projections and the like. Or playing only music that images and not being able to play anything 'old' or poorly recorded because it sounds painful, bright etc.
I have a Leben (lush, big sound) amp and 47 front. With this I can play anything and it sounds relaxed, soft, big, very fast and as loud as you like. The dynamics are stunningly fast. This is what gives them the liveliness, realism and enjoyable quality, as well as sheer musicality. I previously owned B&W 802's. These speakers were, I have to say of the dry, boring (yes they would do the fireworks thing to impress your mates with, but the superficial wears off quickly), and painful - all the things which 'Hi-Fi' is geared towards now, which has killed enjoyment. But no matter how loud the 802's played (ear damaging 100dB levels) they still could not do dynamics like the Druids.

The set up I have may do alot of 'Hi-Fi' things wrong, but what it does do is get your foot tapping, and put a smile on your face...
