I'll admit that I'm not big on desserts to begin with but pie has virtually zero appeal to me. As I mentioned before, my friends just stare back incredulously at me when they hear this. A couple of them are hardcore foodies and they constantly pepper me with questions in an effort to wrap their heads around my harumphedness towards pie. "Don'tcha like pastries?" "Is it the fruit? Are you not a fan of fruit?" "Maybe you've never had REALLY good pie...". One of them, a graduate of a culinary school, asked if I liked donuts. "Of course I like doughnuts, I may be a Commie, but I'm not a jerk!".
So he's determined to slowly turn me into a pie person by making a Doughnut Pie. Now that is something I could (potentially) really get behind.
