Home Speaker Asylum

General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

The answer is yes....

>Is it to effectively sink speaker vibrations into the floor, or is it to prevent speaker vibrations from being transmitted into the floor?>

... to both.

Spikes generally prevent floor vibrations from affecting the speaker (pointed end allows a channel for speaker resonances to escape but allows little area for floor resonances to migrate up).

Also to make the speaker more rigid so it won't move back and forth
due to bass cone movement.

Which should provide more stable imaging and tighter, more defined bass.
