way below your budget but perhaps just right for your needs. they never call attention to themselves, and the bass is decent for their size.they respond well to high powered ss amps (see my equipment list) but i would love to hear them with tubed big power. the small room would certainly make 120 watts of tubes seem like 200.
mine are being used with a hsu sub to great advantage but some members of the LA/OC audio society were quite impressed with their lows using a pair of 400wpc aragon palladium amps, no contest however.
