The Naim speakers are designed specifically to be placed near a back wall. I have the Ariva(the least expensive); it is amazing and well
received by both Naim lovers and others. I believe it was recently
discontinued since the cabinet maker for this speaker, Castle, went
out of business, but I believe U.S distributor has stock. The speakers higher up in the Naim chain are to be placed close to a back wall as well, even starting at 4 inches.
