I owned exactly the same large advents used with various NAD components a number of years ago. Your descrition basically matches mine- very little depth and width to the soundstage that is hughly bettered by more modern speakers and as this is important to me I strongly prefer my PSB Stratus Silver i's.
In many ways a nice looking , good sounding pleasant speaker that matches up well with modest equipment-great for cauual listening.
