I have KEF Reference 3.2 (pretty big speakers) in 17' x 11' dedicated room, located along short wall. Distance from listening position is much longer than between speakers - 11' vs 7.5', so ratio is almost 1.5. Sound just fine to me, no problem with exaggregated bass. Also, in dedicated room you'll be able to set up some traps.
So, I wouldn't sell, at least not until you have a chance to play with them there.
