I loved the New Large Advent. Unfortunately its tweeter could not handle any power at all. It was one of the first speakers to employ ferrofluid, but it did not help.
The largish, acoustic suspension design presented that Cambridge sound in all its glory. There is nothing being produced today that is even similar.
I call the '90s The Age of Brightness. I left the '80s with a/d/s 1290II's which were acoustic suspension designs with soft domes. I then had several "well-reviewed" large floorstanders with plastic cones and metal domes. Ouch! My ears still hurt.
I'm noticing a return to pulp cones (actually more expensive than the plastic variants) and soft domes. All I can say is thank God!
