Now that's a problem. Your best bet is to diagonally place whatever speakers you end up with. A small, square room is a sonic nightmare.

If you achieve this, you will be luckier than most. Stick with moderate sized monitor speakers. I would recommend a pair of Green Mountain Audio Europas. They have decent extension, but above all, are excellent sounding speakers. Whether they will work in your room, however, I'm not sure.
