The voltage U (V) applied to the field coil with DC resistance R (Ohms) is:U=sqrt4R
The formula uses conservative 4 W power dissipation in coil, which will be warm to touch. For example, if the field coil resistance is 400 Ohms, the voltage should be 40 V. The power supply should be capable of 0.1 A.
