Home Speaker Asylum

General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

Recorded sound and genre are not the same thing.

The question is about styles of music, not can speakers magically make every crappy recording sound the same as the great ones. Having said that, I have yet to hear a system that could do all kinds of music equally well. Jazz, classical, folk etc., yes. But, when you throw heavily produced rock music into the mix, it's a different story. Usually the rock is better, or all the other stuff is better.

Splitting the hairs finer, depending on where the meat of a particular piece's pitch range is centered will favor some speakers over others because of crossover points and so on, but that's a different can of worms. Tweeter level controls can only do so much in this department, anyway. EVERY system represents some kind of compromise.
