...we were responding to Pauls observation concerning 6db x-overs and linear response from the tweeter spanning 4 octaves.Yes one could raise the x-over point but then we start to run into dispersion and non-linearities in the woofers response which ALSO has to span 4 octaves.
It's not easy to obtain a seemless blend between the drivers AND to maintain good dispersion characteristics throughout the frequency range with a true 6db x-over, but some feel very strongly that the advantages a 6db x-over provides are worth the effort :-)
