Yes, more power! (Tim Allen grunt). I run my 0.6QRs, the 'father' of the 12QRs, (between the MMGs and 1.6QRs) with a NAD 216THX and a NAD 1600 preamp. I know I could improve my system with different amplification, but not much without spending a LOT more than the $400 I have in the used NADs. I'm on a budget too.The 200w/ch - 4ohms will drive my Maggies almost effortlessly, and my room gives out before the NAD or Maggies do. I think it's hard to beat the NAD amps for durability, power and cost/benefit ratio, especially if you can find a good used one like I did. Better sounding amps? Sure, but not on my budget.
Plug MMG into the 'text to find' box in the Planar Asylum and you'll get more insight, opinions and ideas than you can study in a week, or just hang out there with us for awhile.
