Totally academic. I would never consider serious auditioning without a range of music. Sometimes, however, say at an audio show, you only hear one excerpt before you move on to another room, often because what you're hearing doesn't warrant staying for more. If the music doesn't play to the speakers strengths then your decision might be premature. Same if you only heard one favorable piece and concluded that the speakers were great. The latter is familiar as the scenario at the dealer who won't let you play your own selections.Amdrew
