Re: upgrading from Reynaud Twin...

If you are going with a 5.1 setup then moving the twins to the rear and getting better JMR fronts is a good idea. Certainly more cost effective in the long run. Of course if you are spending that much you need to listen to them first.

If you don't like lots of high frequency extension and find metal dome tweeters fatiguing then the Gallo will not be for you.

Based on your tastes give these a listen:

Spendor SP31/P
Spendor SP2/3
Harbeth M30 (a little more than $4k)
Sonus Faber
Vienna Acoustics
Vandersteen

I have the Spendor SP2/3 that I use for music and HT. There are speakers that play rougher and louder for HT (and that is what some people prefer for HT) but the Spendor's play plenty loud for me. The musicality and enveloping nature of them just make movies awesome.

I think the new Spendor line such as the S8e would be better for HT because they have more dynamic punch in the bass. But the classic series are better for music.

You will need a sub for HT. I use a Rel because it has two inputs. Speaker level inputs where the levels are adjusted for best music reproduction. Then it has an LFE input with separate controls. You dial that in for HT.
