I'm a bit overwhelmed at all the constructive advice from everyone on this thread(thank you) and have decided to pursue the repair route. I googled and am impressed with the level of engineering and thought that have gone into this design. Well, ...from acoustic suspension addiction to open array in one fell swoop. Who knows where this will lead? I have also decided to cease trying to power these up as they may cause harm to my amp if impedence drops?(rises?). Now trying to figure how these black socks can be removed w/out damage. Interesting challenge as my 3 thumbs keep getting in the way! Thanks again to all and keep posting to keep this newbie on track. Ron
