I am planning to upgrade the HF Xover cap of my Sonus Faber Signum to Mundorf Supreme or Silver in Oil. I really like this speaker and i think upgrading the Xover cap would really bring the musically of this spkr to a higher level . Age is close to 10 years so i think the caps would be like polyesters. And when I'm there, maybe i will also change the resistors to better qualityI did it to the SF concertino previously. I changed the HF cap to Mundorf Supreme cap and really gave big improvement. The highs are more extended and gave better detail. Over all musicality has improved. IMHO, it is better than playing on cables ( I/C , spkr cable or power cords ).
My problem is, the Signum Xover is covered with black resin as damping material or cover Xover design ( trade secret ). Has anybody upgraded the caps of this speaker before.? What is the value of the HF cap ? .. How did you remove/peel the resin without damaging the component? Is there any Technique or Spray to remove the resin.
Appreciate your help/suggestions .
