Heckt patented it in 1969, but Villchur created it and used it in the AR-3 in 1958
"In 1957 AR's engineering group introduced the 2A, the world's first acoustic suspension bookshelf loudspeaker. This was followed with the AR-3 which incorporated the world's first soft dome tweeter and midrange and a 12" long throw woofer. This revolutionary design provided a profound improvement to dispersion, frequency response, distortion, and power handling."
