One of the unacknowledged "grand old men" of audio. I had the pleasure of working with him and his son Ken who now works with his Dad designing and manufacturing Phase Technology speakers. Good guys who know their stuff. Actually, I'm not sure whether the patent technically belongs to Bill personally or to the parent company of Phase Technology, United Speaker Systems. The company started in New Jersey, I believe, then moved here to the Jacksonville area. They build excellent speakers that always seem to get favorable reviews. It's a shame they aren't more widely known in audiophile circles.
