I've been listening to the pair, at home for the past two months or so.I went to the NRC just to make sure that:
A. I wasn't hearing things that were not there;
B. The bass wasn't caused by some bad rattling;
C. There was no impedance problems;
D. Phase was correct down there.It was impossible to measure THD below 50Hz, but LF ditortion figures are on par with other quality speakers (Verity Audio Parsifal encore).
Again, it's not a sim. This is real world.
On my system (which is OK, but certainly not high end) I've been able to hear things that I never heard before: vibrations coming from wood stage on Clapton Unplugged, a low frequency hum caused by an open mic on Diana Krall live in Paris, track 6, and of course large organ pipes sounding like trucks passing through my listening room, tonearm - Fr 13 Hz... - mistracking.
My previous sub never ever gave me that kind of detail in the bass.
