Granted there were some high spots on that and overall it's probably as good a record as he's done for a long time, but still a little too slick for my tastes. There are a couple of good tunes on almost every release, but proportionately they are lacking and an artist of his calibre shouldn't be satisfied to release so much mediocrity.At this point I think Clapton is best in a live setting where someone is pushing him just enough to make hime stop thinking and just play, or sing. And I'm NOT thinking Cream...Clapton's very self-concsious and needs to get out of himself to "prevail". There are moments on the Crossroads Guitar Festival DVD where he does just that. He was also fantastic in the George Harrison tribute as well. If I wore a hat I'd take it off to him for that project...
