That is why you so often hear people say that music is not as good as it was back then. It's not necessarily the music, it's just that it is associated with an important time in your life when you are doing so many exciting things, often for the first time.I think there is more varied and better music available today than ever (not on commercial radio), but it won't ever have the same importance to me as the music of my youth.
