Arcade Fire - Funeral

I know I am late to the party on this one, it's been out since late 2004. I had heard the one song they play on the radio and on the basis of that, classified this band as OK but non-essential.
But I was quite wrong. This is the best rock album I've heard in months. I hear a big Pixies influence. But what is most interesting to me are the unusual instruments and world music influences. One of the repeated riffs in the 2nd song might be taken from Balinese gamelan music, then there are others later that are definitely Celtic. But they are not jarring, they flow naturally into rock songs. Interesting lyrics, good flow through the 10 songs, I find myself skipping none of them. Really really good.
