Listening my way thru the SACDs. Listening in sequence and have finished Days of Future Past....The sound is great in some places....the orchestra stuff is brilliant. The rest of the SACD seems to be suffering from tape saturation. Cymbals as flat as they ever were.....Without reseating further, I'd say that at least 3 recording studios were used and into what back then? 4 track? Maybe 8. Is it better than my original Deram vinyl? Who knows, I am not concerned with that.....There is sure more "there" there.6 months later they did In Search of The Lost Chord....Better sound....better tape formula is my guess...different engineer/producer? Who knows, I am not concerned with that. The sound has more clarity, body...punch. Gorgeous stacks of voices harmonizing as if their groupie fan base depended on it for homage paying.
A very mature songwriting effort and just mesmering arrangements of some of the most spellbinding music of its or any other day. Better than the Vinyl? Again, that is not important to me...it sure is quieter though.
I have not listened to any bonus material yet....
To be con't....
