I can think of few bands that had a more fanatical following. With the efforts of many grateful dead "historians" and the publication of "dead base", plus all the internet sites, there is'nt much that is not known concerning the dates and songs of grateful dead shows. The last one was october 1983 Madison squre garden. This was the first one since 1978 and it sounded sloppy and unrehearsed. The tune has some changes that the band seemed unable to pull off in later years. The early versions rule (1969-1971), the live dead version being a prime example, I'd say no others significantly outdo it. Try dicks picks number 26.
