I was there and it was something---for the 60s, but the village scene has gone global or at least national and the number of really excellent struggling young musicians in many smaller cities, like Ohama and Portland, alone, eclipse the Village folk giants of these days. I am 63 and i think my kids face a much richer "indie" scene than is represented by Bleeker Street, even if you throw away 95% of the new groups.
It's not like professional sports at all.
