I bought her first album and loved it, at the time she was a protege of Gram Parsons, a country rocker, and I think her earlier albums were marketed more to the rock audience. She got more mainstream acceptance in the country world and was one of the top country artists for many years, although now, like Willy, she can't sell much in the mainstream country market. Through it all she has maintained her integrity and high standards. She really knows how to pick her bands/collaborators.I've learned never to reject any genre out of hand simply because its most visible practitioners may be junk. Having said that, I really haven't found any Rap that does anything for me, but I can't say I've tried hard either.
