Garcia

Anyone heard the Rhino release of Jerry G's 1st solo album? I've had it for a couple months but am just now getting around to listening to it. A couple things of note at this time.

1. Like all the re-releases done by Rhino, the sound (HDCD mastered) on this disc is a huge improvement over the original CD release. Not that the original redbook was all that bad either, but this new Rhino release really captures the acoustic guitar and drum sound. Much more dynamic too.

2. The demo track of Sugaree is great - very sparse and lively, It sounds like Garcia and Kreutzman are right in my living room.

3. In the liner notes there is a great picture of Garica, circa early 70's, playing a strat though a pair of Twin with the tiedyed grill covers.

4. IMHO this is by far the best JG solo release, as well as one of the best studio recordings in the Dead catalog. Two thumbs up on this one!
