40 years ago ago, I went with a few classmates to the iconic Tower Records, which used to be on Jones & Columbus. Afterward, we made or way to Pier 39.

Back then, the sea lions were still some five years away from hanging out on the docks.

When we got to the end of Pier 39, Alcatraz looked so close. Some of us were afraid to drop or lose items into the water. But as always, we talked about music. And when it came to Dokken's overwrought power ballad, "Alone Again," we thought it was mediocre. Indeed, despite lots of power ballads on local radio stations, you hardly ever hear "Alone Again." Nevertheless, you'll come across fans, who do love "Alone Again." Gotta respect that!
