Oh hell yeah. 35 years ago, some of my friends went to UC Berkeley. They introduced me to an East Bay act, Digital Underground.
Unlike the gangsta rap of the era, Digital Underground's "Doowutchyalike" was more funky. And it encouraged audiences to (a) set aside the hangups and prejudices, (b) be safe, and (c) make out with each other. If you could not or did not hook up with someone new, you and a friend got to engage with each other. And without romantic involvement, that was such a growth opportunity.
Because of the nice weather, and because many of us still live in the Bay Area, my wife got together with her old friends from UC Berkeley. Some of us now have kids, who are in college. Alas, now "Doowutchyalike" gets them to think about not getting their hair dyed any more. Just let it go gray and white. And now they want to resume going to spas as a group.
