No, we do not have photos from 1985. But 40 years ago, the first "summer fog" was forming, and rolled in over San Francisco. My parents took me and my brother up to Coit Tower. Afterward, we went to the iconic Tower Records, which used to be on Jones & Columbus. There, we heard and loved Foreigner's "That Was Yesterday." For whatever reason, that killer song just did so-so on the charts, and in sales.
"OMG, it stinks in here."
When we were in college in the early-1990s, we went to a dance. As always, we struck out. None of my friends was able to nab a guy. So we just went back to the apartment.
You were just trying to brush your teeth, when your friend barged into the bathroom, and closed the door behind her.
"I need to talk to you."
Was it about food, school, or the lack of success with guys? Nope, she complained that, at the dance, the DJ played Foreigner's "I Want To Know What Love Is."
"That song is AWFUL!!!!" she complained. "Ruined the entire dance, scared off any potential boyfriends." She then added, "If they're going to play Foreigner, play 'That Was Yesterday'!"
You go girl!
