Whoa, you got to see Journey of the mid-70s?! And at UC Davis?
In early 1983, Journey had been coming off of the blockbuster album, Escape. For some unknown reason, Journey's A&R pulled the killer "Ask The Lonely" and "Only The Young," from Frontiers, and put in filler. Thus, the album was kneecapped, and was a commercial disappointment, when compared to Escape.
"Ask The Lonely" and "Only The Young" were later released as singles from movies, but by then, it was too late. Journey's momentum was stalled, ultimately preventing them from going higher than Escape.
BTW, Journey did give "Only The Young" to Scandal, so you can hear Patty Smyth singing it. Nothing against Sammy Hagar, but my friends and I have always wished that Smyth had replaced David Lee Roth, as lead singer of Van Halen. Eddie VH had actually asked Smyth about it, but at the time, she was about to give birth, and thus declined.
