When my future wife and I were in high school in the late-1980s, we could, in terms of music, "meet in the middle," and enjoy lite metal, such as Winger.
Academically superior, my future wife went to pressure-packed UC Berkeley. Academically inferior, I went to laidback UC Santa Cruz. When my future wife visited me in Santa Cruz, she liked how people got dirty, and didn't care about being all prim and proper.
Winger's "Miles Away" made my future wife detest the pressures of Cal, and got her to "de-stress," by insisting me in Santa Cruz.
15 years ago, my wife picked up on Winger's then-new "Deal With The Devil," which dealt with the trappings of fame. She joked that Winger never reached rock superstardom, but that no effort by the Devil could ever turn Winger into superstars. Be that as it may, she liked that Winger soldiered on, and occasionally came up with a nice sing-along tune, such as "Deal With The Devil."
She claimed that, if she had gone to UCSC, she would have loved that all those wannabe hippie girls did not shave. Oh well, rocking to "Deal With The Devil," my wife shaved her legs.
